Installation Problems and Questions:
Error Reports: My computer reports an error when I try and install the almanac.
We have had reports of users seeing a number of different errors while trying to install the almanac , these errors include ‘2032 Error’, ‘…installation has been mis-configured..’, ‘installation has corrupted’, ‘Air file damaged’.
These errors are all caused by a corrupted installation file for either Almanac or the supporting software Adobe Air and can be fixed by following the steps below to get a clean install.
1. If you have Adobe Air installed then uninstall it through your add or remove programs menu.
2. Install the latest version of Adobe Air from http://get.adobe.com/air/
3. Download the Wiley Digital Almanac from http://www.wileynautical.com/view/0/almanac.html
I have clicked the install now button and nothing is happening.
The install progress is shown in a separate window so check it is not hidden behind your internet browser window.
My computer is asking me if I want to Open or Save the file?
Open the file and you will be asked where you want to install the almanac.
I cannot find or open the almanac having installed it.
After first installing the almanac it will open automatically. After that an icon will appear on your desktop. Double click it to open the almanac.
After I get to the almanac opening page I cannot find the install now button or the video screen.
It sounds like your computer doesn't have Flash installed or possibly Flash is disabled. Both the video and the download link use Flash which you can download for free from the adobe website here
Am I opening up my computer to viruses or bugs?
We hold certification as a trusted software supplier.
How long does the download take?
That depends on your internet connection. Fast broadband connections will do it in a minute or two. Slower connections may take a little longer.
Registration - Country Selection issues.
A number of users have contacted us to say they cannot select their country during the registration process. Make sure you are connected to the internet and, if you have a slow connection, wait a little while for the list of countries to be downloaded. You should only need to do this once.
Using the Almanac
Where are the tidal streams?
Tidal streams are in the tides menu. If you cannot see them, then you are probably running the beta version and you need to upgrade.
To upgrade your Almanac go the download page http://www.wileynautical.com/view/0/almanac.html and click the install now button.
This will download the new version to your computer and when promoted choose to replace the existing installation.
When will you extend coverage beyond the south/east coast of the UK and north French coast?
Over time we would love to extend the coverage. At the moment we are focusing on making this free resource work as well as possible for the current regions. As we gain more regular users and advertisers we hope to be in a position to expand to other areas. So the short answer is watch this space, support our advertisers and tell your friends.
Can I get the Wiley Nautical Almanac on my blackberry, iphone or other mobile device?
Not yet. We’d love to develop this so let us know what phone you are using and what you’d like to see on it through Feedback in the almanac. You can also download our mobile weather application here www.wileynautical.com/weather
How do I get the most up-to-date port documents?
Check the Download Manager in the Almanac’s Tools menu to see if there are any updates available. If there are, click Download Now.
We will also be producing occasional software updates and improvements. You will be asked whether you want to install these. When you upgrade all almanac information you have downloaded will be transferred to the newest version.
The almanac seems to run very slowly or takes up a lot of my CPU capacity.
Most computers run the application with no problem, but we are aware of this issue for some users and have actually done some more optimisation work since the launch. As the Almanac is designed to run on cross platform computers the user experience may well vary. If you could send us your feedback on problems or issues you have experienced we stand a better chance of correcting them quickly.

I have a small screen and when I zoom in to get it to a readable size, I can't then scroll round the expanded page.
To scroll around a zoomed in document you need to click and hold on the page while dragging your mouse in the direction you want to move the document.
When I select weather from the weather map it seems to hang?

Updating the Almanac
What’s the easiest way to get the update?
Firstly check your existing installation of the Almanac is closed. Then click the Install Now link on the download page here http://www.wileynautical.com/view/0/almanac.html and when promoted choose to Replace you existing installation.
What does the update contain?
The new v1.1 update contains animated tidal streams, Europe wide weather, Printing, facilities search, new port data, improved interface clarity and improved running speed.
