MORE ON ALADDIN'S CAVES AKA CHANDLERIES

Since my previous blog, when I mentioned the purchase of bargain rope from an Essex-based chandlery at the Excel Boat Show, I have heard from another long-established Brightlingsea chandlery not included in but very worthy of a place in the new edition of East Coast Rivers.

Jeremy Snelling, the manager of L.H. Morgan & Sons (Marine), has reminded me that this chandlery has been in Brightlingsea since 1971, based in the Shipyard Estate, only a short distance from the town hard. As well as a fully equipped chandlery, a range of boatyard services and an engineering workshop are also on site. More information can be found on www.morganmarine.com and I will be adding the details to the East Coast Rivers amendments (River Colne chapter), which will be available in a month or so.

Things change all the time along this stretch of coast. If any readers of East Coast Rivers has local knowledge of omissions like the one above, or indeed any information published in the book that needs correcting or updating, we would be very pleased to hear from you. We will be updating amendments on a regular basis and it will be possible to obtain them by email or by post – details are available on the Wiley Nautical website.
