Fairytale of New Yacht

Bookmark and Share

You can still do the important meals on a yacht. Perhaps if it is big celebration you could share the cooking with a friend, who brings the roast potatoes? But beware of too many people. One cruiser was left washing lettuces for 40 when she drew the short straw for a group Christmas lunch. Others were chatting to friends and missed out on the pounds of potatoes they had prepared. Remember, dishes can become an elaborate, time-filling indulgence if the boat is not rolling and if you are not too exhausted from sailing. Just because you are on a boat, basic cooking does not change. You can create complex sauces and curries or stick to roast and two veg, whatever your preference. If you are shattered or short-handed, boil-in-the-bag dishes are saviours, whether on long or short passages.
